Caledonia Post Office Mural
The historic Caledonia Post Office features a 5-by-14-foot tempera-on-canvas mural titled "Hog Raising," painted in 1942 by artist Edmund Lewandowski. Commissioned by the Treasury Section of Fine Arts, it portrays three local farmers shoveling corn to pidsto celebrate the region’s rich agricultural fertility.

The Commission: Funded during the New Deal era to bring public art to everyday Americans and lift spirits during tough times.
Local Input: Postmaster Charles Dorival recommended a farm theme to accurately mirror the community's primary livelihood.
The Design: Features vibrant green and yellow tones symbolizing the rich soil of the Caledonia region.
The mural can be viewed at the Caledonia Post Office located at 125 E. Grove Street Monday through Friday 9:00am-4:15pm and Saturday 9:00am-11:00am
